2019 conference schedule

 

Wine Speak’s interactive seminars are designed to provide an illuminating perspective on two leading local varieties—Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. These seminars will be led by a global cast of leading winemakers and wine professionals.

 

DAY ONE 

JANUARY 7TH, 2019


New World Syrah Seminar

January 9 @ 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

 

Location: Atascadero Historic City Hall, 4th Floor. 6500 Palma Ave, Atascadero, CA 93422 

The goal of this session will be to share, collaborate and discover Syrah from a global perspective.  Panelists will discuss personal challenges, successes, trials and the future of this great varietal, which some might suggest is under appreciated.  We invite the audience to participate in an interactive discussion as we delve deeply into this classic Rhône variety to assess its status in the New World and its future in the global wine landscape. Each producer will bring a wine to share with the audience.

“Paso Robles Blind Tasting” – A blind tasting of select Paso Robles wines conducted and scored by attending sommeliers and wine media. Event at the Historic Carlton Hotel. This is invite only for sommeliers, top-tier sponsors, and invited media. Not included in the "All Access Package." A formal invitation will be sent to those invited.

Led by Renee Awana, Hawaiian Airlines’ Managing Director of Product Development, you’ll learn the tools and techniques used to create memorable guest experiences that translate into brand advocates and loyal customers - and be able to apply them to your own training and service initiatives.

Renee Awana, Managing Director of Product Development, Hawaiian Airlines

Renee is responsible for creating and implementing strategies for all aspects of the guest experience onboard.  Her key focus is exceptional inflight hospitality and ensuring “our guests’ vacations begin the moment they board the aircraft.” This means not only bringing the sights, sounds and tastes of Hawaii onboard, but more importantly, building and fostering meaningful interactions between guests and the crew – and creating fiercely loyal customers as a result. In addition to her time at Hawaiian Airlines, Renee has over 25 years’ experience in marketing, brand strategy, advertising, public relations and business development.  Prior to joining Hawaiian Airlines, she served as the Vice President and Head of Marketing at wireless telecom company Mobi PCS and previously managed marketing efforts for companies in the hospitality, environmental and fitness industries.

Alisa Onishi

Onishi is the Director of Brand Management & Development at Hawaiian Airlines and is responsible for overseeing Hawaiian Airlines’ global brand strategy and visual identity.  Most recently tackling a brand refresh, including a new logo, livery and visual system, a new uniform launch and a partnership with Disney’s Moana, Alisa identifies opportunities to partner with the right designers, producers, and suppliers to extend the Hawaiian Airlines brand into every aspect of the guest experience.  Focusing her efforts on delivering consistency throughout the entire guest experience, Alisa pays attention to the details and nuances of the brand and the perceptions of the brand in various markets Hawaiian serves to stay relevant and unique in a very competition industry.

Onishi has nearly 13 years of combined experience in the areas of marketing, brand management, promotions, customer loyalty, sales and product development. Prior to joining Hawaiian Airlines, she served as marketing communications manager – brand & customer experience at Hawaiian Telcom, Inc. and marketing manager at Coral Wireless (dba Mobi PCS).

Participants that purchase this package will attend the entire Wine Speak Conference with the last day as the Tech Tour Experience. A select group of participants will experience in-depth tech tours giving insight into of some of the most historic and significant wineries and vineyards in Paso Robles. These intimate tours will provide unparalleled access to the properties of Tablas Creek Vineyard, James Berry Vineyard, Daou Vineyards & Winery, Ancient Peaks Winery, Denner Vineyards, Adelaida Vineyards & Winery, Halter Ranch, Villa Creek Cellars and Booker, affording attendees the rare chance to engage directly with the owners and winemakers. 

Participants will receive additional info on specific itineraries. Please arrive at The Carlton by 8:00 am. Shuttles will leave promptly at 8:30 am and will return by 4:30 pm.
